As we already advanced a few days ago, we met Francisca Torres, from Santiago de Chile, and since we saw her style of tape art we wanted to approach her because her story is different.

Listen and you will see, well! read and you will see ..

Francisca, how did your interest in tape art come about?

My interest in Tape Art was born a few years ago studying art at the University. It´s worth mentioning that the economy in my visual system then arises in response to the specific conditions that were asked of me at that time, which was particularly to create a new work every two weeks. I was thus generated a problem of time and space that I discovered I could solve with the tape.

I needed to deploy, just for a couple of hours, a visual idea in a simple and direct way, I needed to find a provisional enough system that would allow me to expand in space and continue to explore my concerns.

This is how I came to the system that I use today, supported by tape. This allows me to stick it and take it off the walls and floors, at the same time they have different colors and thicknesses, making it possible to make straight lines with ease and to cover large spaces. It is a temporary material, disposable and relatively low cost, which allows me to draw as it adheres to the wall and, thus, through minimal elements intervening, temporarily, the space.

So Francisca, do you consider that you have therefore a very own style?

I think that more than talking about a style, the characteristics that define my interventions are the use of the architecture where the work is installed, the synthesis of each work, and also the predominant use of the line on color, which makes these works in large format drawings “.

Wonderful. We were delighted and excited to see more of your works. By the way, what is your dream tape art work?

My dream work would be to intervene in large public spaces by changing the previous perception that viewers had of them and recording the different interactions of these in this new space totally demarcated by the tape“.

Great Francisca! Thank you for telling us more about your style of tape art.
