We have met a brazilian artist who does something we love and want you to show you. He’s Murilo Cenovicz and tells us:
“My passion with tape was as follows. I’m an ophthalmologist and I’ve always been passionate about optical elements, Op Art always made my head. When I was introduced to tape art, I really liked the way I was able to create optical elements in less time than with other materials and with great results. Then i started to be passione about this tape world.
I was influenced in the world of the tape by the artist Darel Carey with his optical walls, and other influences in the world of the OPART like Victor vassarely, bridget riley, etc.
My style is to create optical elements with a certain perspective, depth and fluidity.
I chose the tape because as I said, it is versatile, gives a great result in a shorter period of time and has the facility to take it out in case you need it.
The evolution of tape art in my opinion would occur when tape art diffuses in all corners of the world, since it is more localized in some major centers. When this happens, other artistic scenes will be introduced to the world of the tape and they will begin to give a new perspective to the tape art.
My dream tape installation is to make big urban murals. But I believe that it will only be possible if the availability and price of the tapes get better in Brazil, thus being able to do a great and quality work.”
Thank you for explaining of this interesting style of tape art and welcome to the Tape Art Society community!!
